Waseca, MN - Brown Printing Company, the country’s 4th largest magazine printer and 6th largest catalog and insert printer, celebrates 50 years in the industry this month. Incorporated in 1957, Brown has evolved from Wayne “Bumps” Brown’s newspaper printing operation into one of the premier web offset printers in North America, producing over 700 titles.

Brown operates three manufacturing facilities in Waseca, MN, East Greenville, PA, and Woodstock, IL and sales offices throughout the country. The Gruner + Jahr subsidiary’s 50 year history has seen substantial investments in all three plants that include the additions of 2x8 Sunday press technology, co-mail, virtual proofing, digital editions, and increased binding capacity.

In the lead-up to the 50th anniversary, Brown announced a $38 million investment towards additional equipment for the Woodstock, IL plant.

Brown, headquartered in Waseca, MN, serves as the town’s largest employer. In conjunction with the company’s anniversary, Waseca Mayor Roy Srp officially proclaimed the week of July 9 through July 15 as Brown Printing Week.
