At Brown, our goal is to offer environmentally friendly options that result in a finished product that is both earth-friendly and beautiful.  Brown has achieved FSC, PEFC, and SFI Chain-of-Custody Certifications in all of our manufacturing facilities.  These globally recognized programs enable us to offer our customers a variety of certified paper from properly managed forests, allowing them to make an educated environmental choice about the products they use.  In addition to these options, Brown’s direct mill relationships allow customers to purchase a large variety of post consumer waste papers.

Inks used in our printing process are manufactured on site, contain an industry leading 25-30% renewable materials, and are SoySeal Certified.  This certification ensures that Brown’s inks are produced using stringent amounts of soy and vegetable oils and furthers the high standards we already have in place. The SoySeal certification also allows our customers to apply the SoySeal mark to their publications and catalogs letting consumers know their product meets the high standards of the American Soybean Association.

Ink that was traditionally recycled is now separated by color and blended into new batches. Inks and coatings that can no longer be reblended and need to be recycled are used in a beneficial fuel program where they are converted to energy.  The ink, UV coating, and varnishes used in this program generate over 250,000 kWh annually.
